Gate Terminal, a joint venture of Gasunie and Vopak, at Maasvlakte in Rotterdam, is the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in the Netherlands. It operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year importing, storing and ensuring a continous supply of LNG to meet the increasing demand within the Netherlands.
To ensure continued quick and reliable access to their documentation, Gate invited Radial SG Partner, Versatec Energy to carry out a Proof of Concept using Radial SG innovative solution, Viewport. A Viewport connector was quickly implemented to look at the primary Gate data sources including the Gate maintenance management solution, Maximo
Viewport’s ability to automatically create links to and from documents and data based on patterns was one of the appealing features for Gate, automating this process was also seen as one of their biggest challenges as there were some differences in how this information was recorded in the drawings and in the Maximo solution. By utilizing the advanced analysis capability within Viewport to extract valuable data from the engineering content as well as information hidden in the file names, this hurdle was overcome.
After an initial deployment of Viewport to a select group of users, it quickly became their first point of entry when looking for any kind of engineering information.
The positive outcome of the proof of concept confirmed the decision to deploy Viewport across the organization. Much of the information and the experience from the PoC could be reused and the project was also extended to include information from the Gate SharePoint Online implementation. The standard Viewport SharePoint Connector was installed and configured to meet Gate’s specific SharePoint implementation.
Viewport went live in June 2017 and is now available to the entire Gate organization.
